Sime Darby 'Selamat Hari Malaysia' print ad

Advertiser:
Sime Darby

Date:
16th September 2011

Tagline:
'Bridging gaps. Creating wonders.'

Picture:
A group of ants trying to move from one leaf to another.

The message:
The moment that i saw this ad my eyes immediately shift to the ants. The ants played an important role as for me it symbolizes the Malaysia's citizens. We can see how the ants tried to cross a gap from one leaf to another. They connect their bodies altogether so that they can cross it. It is pretty obvious as I believe that this print ad trying to convey that as Malaysians we should work together to mend or to fill any gap between races. We should never think that it is simply a problem that is impossible to solve but take it as a challenge to create a bridge among us and at the same time we can create wonders for our country, Malaysia.

Now who said that we cant learn nothing from an ant :)

Besides that, I absolutely adore the tagline 'Bridging gaps. Creating wonders.' It fits with the picture perfectly and we can relate it to our reality as the citizens of Malaysia.

Overall, this print ads is really effective for me and easy for the readers to understand.

Now that's a gold medal for Sime Darby :)

Creative Advertising. What is It All About?

What Henderson trying to convey from his quote is that advertiser should do a proper advertising for their product or services in terms for them to succeed in their business. But if they did not use the right kind of advertising to promote their products then their business is definitely at loss.

My point of view is that, i myself do believe that if we manage a certain business, we should know the drill on how to promote or advertise it because no matter what products or services that we are trying to sell to the audiences, remember that our main objectives is to sell the products and get as much profits from it! The thing is that all advertisers are now competing fiercely in the market to outshine others so that they can get concrete spot in audience's mind. To do that they simply have to be creative in advertise their products or services. There are no boundaries in being creative. You can be extreme, play with people's emotion or mind or you can simply be plain. Either way is indeed creative. But what kind of 'creative' that's permanently remembered in people's mind?

Another thing before we go all crazy in being creative, we firstly should know to whom we are selling the products/services and what exactly are we selling because we didn't want to end up selling the wrong product to the wrong person. For example; skincare product company that is specialize in treating wrinkles problem definitely wants to sell their product to aging people instead of selling it to teenagers. The key is to 'know your audience and understand your product!'
